- Divine services in the Transfiguration Cathedral are held daily. The beginning of the Divine Liturgy on weekdays at 7:30. On Sundays and holidays, two Liturgies are celebrated at 7:00 and 9:00. The evening service begins at 17:00.

- The Transfiguration Cathedral with the relics of its founder, St. Pitirim, Bishop of Tambov, is the main shrine of the Tambov region and a witness to many historical events. Its construction began simultaneously with the founding of the Tambov fortress on the southern borders of Russia and ended only at the beginning of the 20th century, by the time of the festivities in honor of the canonization of Saint Pitirim. The temple was founded together with the fortress on April 17, 1636 (O.S.) on a high bank formed at the confluence of the Tsna and Studenets rivers. It was cut down into two floors from huge logs quickly enough, in three months, and consecrated by the first priest of this temple Mokiy Poznyakov on the Transfiguration of the Lord on August 6 (Old Style), 1636.Interior In 1677, the Ryazan Metropolitan Hilarion, who was then in charge of the Tambov limits, granted the Transfiguration Church the status of a city cathedral. A new era for the Transfiguration Church began with the arrival of Bishop Pitirim in the Tambov diocese, who decided to build a stone cathedral near the old wooden church. Having asked for the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Joachim, Bishop Pitirim began construction in 1694. However, Saint Pitirim made adjustments to the project and began to build a two-story cathedral. It was in this side-chapel near the southern wall that Saint Pitirim was buried after his death on July 28 (August 10), 1698. Today the Cathedral in honor of the Transfiguration of the Lord is the dominant feature of the Cathedral Square in Tambov. In 2014, for the 100th anniversary of the glorification of St. Pitirim of Tambov, the reconstruction of the architectural ensemble of the cathedral was completed: a bell tower was erected, destroyed in the year of persecution; a monument to the saint Pitirim was erected, the Pitirimov spring was equipped._MG_3412 On May 16, 2016, the bust of the Passion-Bearer Tsar Nicholas II was consecrated, installed on the alley near the Cathedral and the chapel with the source of St. Pitirim of Tambov. The bust of the emperor was erected in memory of his visit to Tambov in 1914 in the year of the glorification of Saint Pitirim, Bishop of Tambov.
