- The site is mentioned as early as 1584, tied to the settlement of Ploștina Drăgoieștilor under the Brădiceni jurisdiction. A later 1737 land charter confirms the presence of a church here, built with contributions from local nobility—namely Pârvu Drăgoescu and his sons Ceolofani—served by a priest and church singer. Between 1907 and 1919, the present church was constructed upon the old foundation, under the leadership of priest Ion Brâncuși and the local community. Although the structure was largely finished by 1912, decoration, interior finishes, and formal consecration extended into 1919, delayed by Romania's engagement in World War I. In 1919, the church was officially consecrated, marking the completion of its liturgical readiness. Over time, it has been recognized as a protected church within Gorj County, included in heritage inventories and affirmed for both its spiritual significance and historical value. The church stands as a testament to diverse periods: its foundation traces back to the late medieval era, its early 20th-century construction reflects community effort and religious devotion, and its designation as a heritage monument underscores its lasting cultural importance.
