n the village of Volipelga stood one of the most beautiful churches in the Vyatka province. It stood for only a few decades and was destroyed.The Orthodox parish in the village of Volipelga, Malmyzhsky district, Vyatka province, was opened by decree of the Holy Synod of March 13, 1861. It included settlements that were previously part of the parishes of the villages: Vavozh, Bolshaya Ucha, Vodzimonye: Volipelga, Pochinok Kars, the village of Staraya Kotya, the village of Budzimshur, Pochinok Obukhov, Pochinok Chumoyka, Kolnogorov Pochinok, Sulvay-Kaksi Pochinok, Nyurpod-Kaksi Pochinok. The first wooden temple was brought in 1861 from Old Multan, where a stone temple had already been built. The wooden church was with one throne in honor of the holy unmercenaries Cosmas and Damian. But this temple burned down. The second, stone church in the name of the holy unmercenaries Cosmas and Damian was built from 1896 to 1902 according to the project of Ya.P. Maksimovich in the Russian style at the expense of the parishioners. It was consecrated on February 1, 1903. In 1868, a church parish guardianship and a parochial school were opened at the church. Until 1939, the village was part of the Kirov region. On April 21, 1934, the church was closed by order of the Presidium of the Udmurt Regional Executive Committee. They used it as a warehouse, later there was a club in it, films were shown on the first floor, and the youth held rehearsals on the second floor. It was broken into bricks by the authorities in 1937 in order to cover the “debt” of the church community to the state by selling them. Then the 115-pood bell was dropped. According to the old-timers, another large bell (186 poods 18 pounds) hung on the hipped bell tower of the temple, brought by boat from Yelabuga. From the stories it is known that people took away church, sacred relics to their homes and used them in the household. At first, everyone gathered in the house of Ryabova Tamara Vasilievna, but it was inconvenient. We decided to go to Gennady Mikhailovich Abashev, the director of Ritm JSC, with a request to allocate some premises. But all the proposed options did not suit. So we decided to buy a house. We found a more or less suitable one, but it stood for a long time without an owner and required a thorough repair. They began to collect money: they carried it as much as they could. And yet, with great difficulty, they collected the required amount and bought a house, then proceeded to repair. A prayer house was practically made from a collapsed house. We began to complete church utensils. They bought something, and something was donated by the St. Nicholas Church in the village of Vavozh. In 2006, on the initiative of the deputy of the State Council Shirobokova Sofya Elfatovna, a graduate of the Volipelga secondary school, a chapel was built. The chapel is wooden, its area is small and not suitable for church services.
