Ιστορία:: Established in the Spring of 2019 by Bishop Irenei as a mission of St Elizabeth's parish, under the patronage of St Chad of Lichfield - the patron saint of Mercia (English Midlands). The first Divine Liturgy was served on Saturday 30th June (OS) [13th July (NS)] 2019 at St Nicholas's Serbian Orthodox church in Muxton. From 2021 the Anglican Christ Church in Wellington kindly granted us the use of their church twice a month. Our mission is part of the parish of St Elizabeth, of the diocese of London and Western Europe under Bishop Irenei. Our Dioceses is small but with a rich history having been founded in 1923 under Bishop Nicholas, in 1951 St John the Wonder-Worker was appointed to the see where he worked to promote the veneration of the pre-schism western European saints. Orthodox Christianity was first preached to the English kingdom of Mercia by St Chad of Lichfield, whose faith and humility helped convert the local people to Christ. St Chad himself likely preached in this area as evidenced by his nearby holy-well.
