- The Dormition of the Theotokos Church in Antipolo was established in the early 2010s as part of the Antiochian Orthodox Archdiocese’s growing missionary work in the Philippines. Located in Sitio Kalupa, Barangay Tarikan, it began as a small rural mission serving families in the upland areas of Antipolo. Early services were held in a very simple structure made from local materials, reflecting the community’s poverty but strong desire for Orthodox Christian faith. By around 2014, the mission had grown to include dozens of families and received support from the Antiochian Archdiocese of Australia, New Zealand, and the Philippines to strengthen its worship life and begin developing a more permanent chapel. Clergy such as Fr. Joshua Fidel Ruiz helped lead the community through regular liturgy, catechesis, and pastoral care. Though modest in size and resources, the mission continues to serve as a small but enduring Orthodox presence in the hills of Antipolo.
