2004
Ιστορία:
The Lipniţa Monastery is situated 101 km from Constanţa, in Lipniţa Village, between Dervent Monastery and Saint Andrew Monastery. Our monastery is a cenobitic community for womens under the omophorion of Archbishop Teodosie of Tomis Orthodox Archiepiscopate. It was founded in September 2004 as an hermitage located into the former stable of C.A.P. Lipniţa. The construction of the new monachal house started in 2005 and the construction of monastery church started in August 2007. In 2009 the chapel from the church semi-basement was finished. It was painted by the church painter Adrian Botea in the “seco” technique with saint from Dobrogea and with pictures from the life of Saint Dasius and the walls were plated with Viriţa stone. On 29 August 2009 the chapel was sanctified by the Archbishop Teodosie of Tomis. The dedication day of the chapel from the church semi-basement is Saint Dasius, on the 20th of November and this is our church for the winter time. On 6 July 2006, Metropolit Ilarion of Durostorum from the Bulgarian Orthodox Church offered to our monastery a little part of the relics of Saint Dasius and on 29 August 2010 he offered a little part of the relics of Saint John the Baptist, the protector of our monastery. Probably we are the only monastery from Romania which has the relics of this important saint of Christianity. The relics of Saint Dasius and of Saint John the Baptist were taken in numerous processions in neighboring village and in other distant cities and people would get help from them. In 2009 God give us another wonderful gift: a copy of a miracle worker icon from Rusia named “Mother of God Assuage My Sorrows”. The monastery church, with a byzantine style, was built according to the architectural plans of Ion Bârlădeanu from Constanţa, and it is not painted yet. The dedication day of the church is Saint John the Baptist, on the 29th of August. In 2011 the church was furnished in oak graven furniture and in present we are painting the iconostasis. As the number of the monastic community grew substantially and the new buildings of the monachal house and the church are raising, in 2010 our hermitage was tranformed into a monastery. Today, the monastery has 8 nuns and a priest, who combine prayers with various artistic and householding activities. Thus, we have an Embroidery Workshop, where the nuns make priest vestments and all sort of embroidered church covers. They also make many hand made things as prayer ropes and beaded crosses. The monks are called upon to pray for the whole world, and this is their main service to humanity. Thanks to them, prayer is never ended upon earth, and this is indeed a great service, for it is only through prayer that humanity endures. This is why the monks have always striven to carry out the Holy Liturgy and the Seven Glories each and every day. For the monk, however, “Liturgy” is not only a matter of the services held in church; it is his whole life. Wherever he goes and whatever he does, his duty is always to keep God in his mind’s eye. We hope and pray that this holy place will continue to grow, reaching the heights of all spiritual understanding. As a touristic attraction, our monastery has three important things: the relics of Saint John the Baptist, the relics of Saint Dasius and the copy of miracle working icon “Mother of God Assuage My Sorrows”.
