Historia:
The Daet Mission began in 2013 when a Serbian Orthodox couple moved to Daet, Camarines Norte. They established a business and hoped to build an Orthodox Christian community. Upon discovering that Orthodoxy was virtually unknown in the province, they came under the spiritual care of Archimandrite Philemon Castro, who at that time was serving under the Greek Orthodox Church of the Ecumenical Patriarchate. In 2017, when Fr. Philemon temporarily left the Philippines to pursue his master's studies, Branko requested a spiritual father from the Serbian Orthodox Church. In response, Archimandrite Pantaleimon arrived and began missionary work in the province. His efforts included evangelism through local radio programs and introducing the Orthodox faith at institutions such as Mabini Colleges. Around this time, they met Bro. Athanasius, another Orthodox Christian residing in the province. Bro. Athanasius later married Francia, who was baptized with the name Juliana by Fr. Pantaleimon at Bagasbas Beach. During these years, the first Orthodox baptism in the area took place, along with the celebration of the Divine Liturgy. Around 2019–2020, plans were initiated for the construction of an Orthodox church in P-1 Matnog. However, the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, together with the falling asleep of Bro. Athanasius in the Lord, prevented the project from being completed. Fr. Pantaleimon departed shortly thereafter. During this period, Archimandrite Philemon returned to the Philippines, now serving under the Russian Orthodox Church. He was the priest who offered the funeral prayers and officiated the burial of Bro. Athanasius. Years later, in 2025, Christina and her son John, who had been baptized in Dubai by Archimandrite Isaac, returned home to Camarines Norte. They shared the Orthodox faith with their family members, who were subsequently baptized by Archimandrite Philemon at Talisay Beach. These events revitalized and further established the Daet Mission, leading once again to plans for the construction of an Orthodox church temple in the province. Through years of missionary efforts, baptisms, Divine Liturgies, and the perseverance of the faithful, the Orthodox presence in Camarines Norte has continued to grow, laying the foundations for a permanent Orthodox community in the region.
