- The first church in Kozloduy with the name "Holy Trinity" was built in 1865, in the Ottoman Empire, and three Romanian priests served in it. In the same year, a school was opened in the temple, where Mladen Pavlov Kalinov, who welcomed the Boteva group in 1876, taught. In 1890, already in the Principality of Bulgaria, Metropolitan Konstantin Vrachanski began a persecution against the Romanian priests and the customs brought by them were prohibited. Under his pressure, a decision was made to build a new temple. [2] The foundation stone was laid on May 7, 1906, and the temple was completed in 1914. [2] The church was built with donations from the local population. [1] The temple was solemnly consecrated on September 8, 1914 by Metropolitan Kliment Vrachanski . [2] Builders of the temple are masters from the Debar art school . [2] The bishop's throne, the proscenitaries [1] and the iconostasis of the temple are also the work of Debar masters from the Filipov family . [3] [4] [1] The iconostasis is finely carved with blooming flowers and vines, and above the royal doors is a carved sun. Wreaths of flowers are carved around the images of the iconostasis. [2] The church has been declared an architectural and artistic monument.
