The "hidden" Holy One who, when working, became a fiery Angel Elder Kornelios Marmarinos Elder Cornelios Marmarinos lived in the 20th century and was the builder of the Monastery of Agia Skepi in Chalkeios, Chios, he was simple, humble with a visionary and proactive gift. On November 12, 1975, his blessed soul ascended to heaven accompanied by the Virgin The 20th century, a century of two world wars, totalitarianism, nihilism and apostasy, verified the apostolic saying "where sin abounded, grace abounded". Indeed, during its duration, the Grace of God was going to highlight a multitude of sanctified figures, men and women, not only the particularly well-known ones, such as Saint Nektarios, Saint Porphyrios, Saint Paisios or Saint James and so many more, but also many which either remain completely unknown, or are not particularly well known. Without, of course, taking into account the cloud of Martyrs who emerged in the old totalitarian regimes, or, at the end of days in Syria. One of the hidden saints of our days was the Elder Cornelios Marmarinos, the builder of the Monastery of Agia Skepi in Chalkios of the holy city of Chios. As the Hieromonk Father Dimitrios Kavadias informs us, Konstantinos Marmarinos was born in the village of Chalkios in 1885. He was the son of the notary Dimitrios Marmarinos and Evanthia Flatsousis. His parents raised him "in the education and admonition of the Lord" while also taking care of his education from door to door. He studied at the Zografio High School in Constantinople and was distinguished for the purity of his life, his impeccable conduct, his clear thinking, his patriotism, but above all for his great faith. He was particularly gregarious and careful in his dealings.
