Historia:: The Theotokos Orthodox Church and Monastery in Bajada (Cataingan) is the best-known Orthodox foundation in Masbate and is part of the Exarchate of the Philippines under the Ecumenical Patriarchate. A local community led by a former Roman Catholic priest entered Orthodoxy and established monastic and parish life there; the church/monastery complex and its kindergarten became a focus for Orthodox mission and liturgical life in the province. The church building was consecrated during the Exarchate’s early years (the community’s growth and public celebrations are recorded in OMHKSEA reports). The monastery community has hosted feast-day celebrations, runs a small school program, and regularly receives visiting clergy from the Metropolis.
