- The Military Church of the Dormition of the Mother of God and the Brâncoveanu Martyrs in Târgu Jiu was constructed beginning in 2002 as the fourth military parish in Oltenia. Funded largely by the Romanian government and supported by military and civilian volunteers, it was inaugurated on 23 August 2009 under Mitropolit Irineu, with MApN cadres in attendance. The church honors two patron feasts—August 15 (Dormition) and August 16 (Brâncoveni martyrs)—and serves as a spiritual center for soldiers and their families.
