History:
At the expense of I.A. Saburov was built in the village in 1797, a stone, warm church with two thrones: in the name of the Holy Trinity (the main one) and the Protection of the Most Holy Theotokos. Visited with. Saburo-Pokrovskoe in 1910, Bishop Kirill of Tambov and Shatsk noted that the temple “from time to time in all places has significantly dilapidated and requires renovation. Despite this, according to the old-timers, the church that operated in the 1920s has retained its former grandeur. The temple operated until 1932, the bells were removed a year earlier. The building of the church houses the district granary. The temple was officially closed on April 17, 1941, and was blown up in the fall of the same year. To carry out this work, specialists from the sapper battalion arrived in Saburovo. Explosives were planted in the walls of the church ... When the explosion thundered, glass flew out of the windows of nearby houses. A huge column of dust rose to the sky and, in an instant, the majestic structure turned into a heap of rubble. The remains of the temple were taken to the village. Chelnavskie Dvoriki was used for road repair. For many years there was not even a hope that a church would reappear in the village. In the 90s of the last century, attempts were made to restore the temple, but they end in vain. Only at the beginning of the new, XXI century, the efforts of the villagers were crowned with success. The initiators were V.N. Astafurova, I.A. Neverova, A.A. Makarov. Having received the blessing of Archbishop Yevgeny (Zhdan), the villagers set about reviving the church. In May 2002, the charter was adopted and the religious organization of the parish of the Intercession Church in the village of Saburo-Pokrovskoye was registered. In July of the same year, a cross was erected at the place where the Trinity (Pokrovsky) church once stood and where the construction of a new church is planned. Collection of donations begins. In September 2002, the plan of the church with a throne in the name of the Protection of the Most Holy Theotokos was approved, and in October a permit for the construction of the church was issued. In 2003, work began on the construction of the temple with. Saburo-Pokrovskoe. In 2012, the temple was fully equipped and prepared for consecration.
