- The joint decision to build a church at the Polynkovo cemetery was made by the first mayor of Tambov, Valery Nikolaevich Koval, and the ruling archbishop of Tambov and Michurinsky, Eugene (Zhdan) at the beginning of 1996. the western boundary of the city, was the only Tambov cemetery, where new burials of the deceased were made every day. However, neither at the cemetery itself, nor in general in the residential areas of the north and north-west of Tambov, there was neither a chapel, nor a temple, in which one could service the dead, perform divine services, sacraments and ceremonies. Therefore, the construction of a temple here was an absolute must. It was decided to dedicate the temple to the new martyrs and confessors of the Russian Church. The architectural project was developed by order of the mayor's office of Tambov by a team of architects headed by Alexander Sergeevich Lunkin. Archbishop Eugene took an active part in the discussion of the draft options, and he gave his blessing to the final draft. In the architecture of the temple, the motives of the northern temple architecture were used. The foundation stone for the foundation of the church with the blessing of Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Alexy II was consecrated and laid by Archbishop Eugene of Tambov and Michurinsky on November 24, 1996.The construction of the temple was carried out until 2000. The construction of the temple was completed in November 2000 by the decree of Archbishop Eugene, the temple with the buildings related to it was declared a Bishop's courtyard. The rite of the minor consecration of the church and the first Divine Liturgy in it was celebrated by Archbishop Eugene of Tambov and Michurinsky on November 24, 2000. The feast day is celebrated on January 25 / February 7, if this day coincides with a Sunday, and if it does not coincide, then on the next Sunday after January 25 / February 7. The rite of the great consecration of the church and the Divine Liturgy were celebrated by Archbishop Eugene of Tambov and Michurinsky on August 6, 2002.On August 9, 2002, in co-service with Archbishop Eugene of Tambov and Michurinsky, Bishop Theodosius of Vetluzhsk, Bishop of Shatsk Iosif Sergius of the Divine Church of St. made by the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Alexy II .
