- The Italo-Greek Orthodox Church has its origins in Sicily and Southern Italy. Originally comprised of ethnic Greeks living in Sicily and Southern Italy, the Italo-Greek Orthodox Church has focused its missionary work on Sicilian and Italian people who are unchurched or are seeking a more stable spiritual home than what they have now. The American Archdiocese has its beginnings in the first Italo-Greek community established in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in the early 1900's.
