- History:
- On June 14th, 2002, the St. Mary Magdalene Orthodox mission parish was founded in Fenton, the first liturgy being held in the chapel of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. From here to 2008, we held liturgies in St. John's Knights of Columbus hall. On June 18th, 2005, the late Archbishop Kirill of the Bulgarian Diocese broke ground on our new property on South Long Lake Road, where we've called home since May 2008 when construction was finished. In October 2008, during our construction period, a tornado hit our town - the wood from fallen trees was repurposed by our first priest, Fr. Paul Jannakos, into an iconostasis that was completed in April 2015. It's the same iconostasis we use today. On April 25th, 2015, Bishop Alexander consecrated the parish - elevating our status from a humble mission into a fully-fledged parish.
